Silver and his siblings were living perilously close to a busy highway in Forest Hills, Queens - a terrifying and unsafe place for tiny kittens just beginning their lives. Despite our efforts, tragedy struck before we could reach them: one of Silver’s siblings was hit by a car. It was a heartbreaking loss and a reminder of how urgently these kittens needed help. Silver was eventually trapped along with another sibling from a separate litter. Like many cats who experience trapping, Silver was frightened and overwhelmed at first. The sudden change was a lot for such a young cat - but his resilience quickly showed. With patience, warmth, and consistency, he began to decompress and trust again. In his foster home, Silver met Gryzlik, a gentle Russian Blue (not purebred or hypoallergenic) who became an unexpected source of comfort. Gryzlik took on the role of both guide and father figure, helping Silver learn that he was finally safe. Through this bond, Silver grew more confident, playful, and affectionate.
